Utopia for realists review6/24/2023 ![]() Utopia For Realists presents a lot of ideas that have the potential to improve society. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in government policy. Each section was well explained with at least one example for why the idea would work. The book introduced new ideas including open borders, a new GDP, and universal base income. Overall, I found the book Utopia For Realists extremely intriguing. While this might sound like a good idea, it is hard to say if this would work in America. The tax dollars could be used to fund research and education and get people into the classroom. Not only would they give everyone a more equal share of the pie, but the whole pie would be bigger.” Here the author is saying that if the government should imposed a tax on wealthy stock traders that could be used to more evenly distribute the wealth. He says, “these taxes would make all of us richer. On page 127 the author suggest a tax on the wealthy. Lowering poverty rates and redistributing the wealth is a key point made by Bregman throughout the book. ![]() ![]() Although some of these ideas may seem radical some or obvious to others, Bregman does a great job at explaining his concepts and backing them. ![]() A few of his suggestions include opening boarders, a universal basic income, and higher pay for essential jobs. Rutger Bregman, a Dutch historian, presents several ideas that he believes could have a positive impact on society. Utopia For Realist is a sort of manifesto for a utopian society. ![]()
